The venue is rotated between member's homes.  For more information, please contact us.</div> <div>      </div> <div> <B><U>ANNUAL FIJI TRIP 2000</U></B></div> <div> Our Committee Representatives and Sports Teams returned earlier on this year from a successful trip to Fiji during which they took part in the 2000 Annual Sangam Convention. </div> <bR> <div> Our President, Secretary, a Vice-President and two Committee Members attended.</div> <bR> <div> We also had four Soccer Teams and three Netball Teams from New Zealand participating in the Sports Tournaments - the largest-ever overseas delegation.</div> <bR> <div> Auckland, Wellington, Hamilton and Henderson Soccer Teams took part, while Auckland, Wellington and Sangam Ferns played in the Netball competition.</div> <bR> <div> There was a Symposium for Overseas Sangam organisations.  This was chaired by our President, M K Pillay.  It was decided to encourage the formation of other National Sangam bodies in other countries outside of Fiji, along the same lines as New Zealand.</div> <bR> <div> The Convention was held in Suva, and provided an opportunity to interact and share ideas with other Sangam Members form all over the world.</div> <bR> <div> Next year's 75th Anniversary Platinum Jubilee Convention will be held in Nadi, Fiji and should be one of the biggest and most popular ones.</div> <bR> <div> <B><U>DEEPAWALI FUNCTION</U></B></div> <div> We hosted a very good function in October last year to celebrate the Hindu New Year Festival of Deepawali.  The event was free to members and the public, and included a meal and cultural items.</div> <bR> <div> A similar event is planned for this Friday.</div> <bR> <div> <B> - Until Next Time, Thank you and Namaskaram</B></div> <bR> <div> (PS : Should you have any items to contribute to the Newsletter or have any interesting news, please contact us).</div> <bR> </td> </tr></table></body>
