EDITORIAL
Namaskaram and welcome to our first Newsletter. Please let us know what you think of it - your advice and comments would be appreciated.
The National T.I.S.I. Sangam has been setup in New Zealand with a view to affiliating all the different Branches and Clubs, and improving the structure of the organisation.
It has been a busy year so far. We have started some major projects including the building of a Harish Chandra Kovil at Puhunui Cemetery, Paptoeotoe, Auckland.
The Coup in Fiji has taken up a lot of our energy and time, and our thoughts continue to focus on Sangam members and families there.
Future Projects include the opening of an Office and Service (Drop-in) Centre. Also, we are looking to purchase a Property and Land for building a Hall, Temple and other facilities.
We wish to thank the Committee and all Members for their service and continued support.
The Sangam is your organisation - without the member's support it cannot exist or function. We therefore need more members and more help with the on-going work to help keep the Sangam running.
There are many other individuals and businesses who have gone out of their way to support the Sangam.
Please try and let others know of the Sangam and ask them to join us. There are many good people in New Zealand who can make a positive contribution to the group.
Together, we can make a better future for our family, our community and ourselves.

Should you know of anyone who wants to be a member or who we can approach to be a member, please get in touch with us.
MEETINGS
The Interim Committee meet regularly at the Prem Raju's Hall at 5 Woodside Rd, Mt Eden, Auckland.
Our appreciation to Mr Raju and his family for their kind support in allowing the Sangam to use their premises at no cost.
The next Committee Meeting is at 3.00 pm on Saturday 11 November 2000.
BRANCHES
There are a number of Sangam Branches and Sports Teams around the country. These include Auckland Sangam, Auckland Maathar Sangam, Hamilton Sangam, Henderson Sangam, Sangam Ferns, Sangam Women's Club, Southern Sangam, Wellington Sangam, and Wellington Maathar Sangam.
The Branches and Teams hold regular sports tournaments, cultural evenings, and fundraising events.
Our appreciation goes to all the officials, members, players and supporters for their commitment and efforts.
OTHER ACTIVITIES & SUB-COMMITTEES
We have setup various Sub-Committees to look after certain areas - these include Youth & Sports, Cultural, Finance and Membership, and Property.
We hold a Bhajan and Ramadan Evening every Tuesday at evening. The venue is rotated between member's homes. For more information, please contact us.
ANNUAL FIJI TRIP 2000
Our Committee Representatives and Sports Teams returned earlier on this year from a successful trip to Fiji during which they took part in the 2000 Annual Sangam Convention.
Our President, Secretary, a Vice-President and two Committee Members attended.
We also had four Soccer Teams and three Netball Teams from New Zealand participating in the Sports Tournaments - the largest-ever overseas delegation.
Auckland, Wellington, Hamilton and Henderson Soccer Teams took part, while Auckland, Wellington and Sangam Ferns played in the Netball competition.
There was a Symposium for Overseas Sangam organisations. This was chaired by our President, M K Pillay. It was decided to encourage the formation of other National Sangam bodies in other countries outside of Fiji, along the same lines as New Zealand.
The Convention was held in Suva, and provided an opportunity to interact and share ideas with other Sangam Members form all over the world.
Next year's 75th Anniversary Platinum Jubilee Convention will be held in Nadi, Fiji and should be one of the biggest and most popular ones.
DEEPAWALI FUNCTION
We hosted a very good function in October last year to celebrate the Hindu New Year Festival of Deepawali. The event was free to members and the public, and included a meal and cultural items.
A similar event is planned for this Friday.
- Until Next Time, Thank you and Namaskaram
